Weekend Chill - Genting Highlands Premium Outlet

Ok. Genting Premium Outlet. Let's go.

Traffic condition on the way to GPO
The journey took about an hour in an unexpected rainy weather and the scenery along the way was only so-so. But we did passed by a few broken cars with smokey engines stranded on the roadsides so first tip, make sure your car's well enough to climb mountains.

Premium Outlet's Middle Street
So GPO. Of course when you hear 'Outlet' you'd want to know the brands. Well, like JPO in Johor, the brand comes from high tier (Versace etc...) to middle class (Coach, MK...etc..) to lower class. Items in store were (of course) off season, priced decently. Discounts were up to 70% but the good stuff would be at 10-30%. Normal, for outlets. As for the service from the employees, my advice, never expect an outlet personnel to treat you like boutique personnel would. We didn't shop much, as choices were kinda limited. But I have to say, the sports brands (Nike, adidas, Under Armor etc) had a lot of things on sale, heaven for sports fans.

As for food choices, it was kinda limited to franchises,  (The Chicken Rice Shop, Old Town White Coffee, Kenny Roger's Roasters, etc). But you can always opt for Family Store snacks at the Skybridge terminal. Obviously people don't go here to food hunt.

As for the weather, people would be expecting cold, foggy environment. Unfortunately, GPO is not really located at the highlands, more like midway up. So it was normal Malaysian climate, at least for that day. But since it was raining, it wasn't that bad. we were able to shop in peace and comfort. But keep your fancy winter jackets in the closet coz this ain't the place to wear em.

So overall, we'd rate it 7/10 for shopping spot.

Movie: Annabelle Comes Home

If you look closely at the movie poster, spoilers.

So been a while since I’ve seen a decent horror movie. I think the last movie that gave me chills was Annabelle Creation. (The scene where the freickin nun pushed the girl’s wheelchair, wtf man...) Then, Hollywood tried to make one horror after another and brutally failed.

Annabelle Comes Home is the 6th (I think) movie in the Conjuring universe, and the 3rd in the Annabelle Spin-offs. What I liked about this movie is that it strays from the format of its predecessors, and could do well enough as a stand alone. I love how the writers didn’t rely on typical random jump scares and used total silence to give you goosebumps. I mean there were times in the movie when it was too quiet, you’d think there’d be a scream or a bang or something jumping out from somewhere, but nothing. It’s just your adrenaline and heartbeat driving you crazy. Good job, Mr Director. And then there are moments when you’re totally unprepared and almost jumped out of your seats. True story.

So i’m not gonna be saying much about the plot of the movie. Gila seram! At least for me. I felt like I was in a Haunted House ride in some theme park that lasted more than 1 hour. The spirits/ghost/monsters were designed and created cleverly to give you just enough chills, not revealing too much. The easter eggs were awesome, look out for em, and the movie provided enough materials for a gazillion spin-offs.

Overall, an entertaining simple(ish) horror movie, if you’re into that kinda thing.

8/10 from both of us.

Event - Big Bad Wolf Seremban

Big Bad Wolf has finally arrived from 27th June until 7th July, located in Mydin Mall, Seremban 2. We were so psyched about this event so decided to check it out.

How did the event go? Well, one word: "WHERE?!"

Before we get to that, let me tell you about the event.

The atmosphere at Big Bad Wolf event (Night Time)

Another side of the event
Spacious side of the event

It was around 8.00pm when we arrived at the BBW after having dinner. The choices weren't that many compared to their past events refering to the ones held in The Mines, Seri Kembangan. However, in terms of book organizing, they had improved. A lot of different genres can easily be found,  labelled neatly, although not always correctly.

The books were taken care of nicely. By nicely, dia jaga bagus - bagus lah. The books were sealed and didn't look damaged, meaning no teared cover, faded cover texts, and most importantly, they have book SAMPLES this time! So it's easy for you to briefly check the content of a book you want to buy.

Stuff We Bought from Big Bad Wolf

These are the stuff we bought from the event. Best purchase? Assassin's Creed Posters Collection. Oh FYI, just like in previous sales, they also sell wide choices of button badges as well but due to their No Photography warning signs, we couldn't take photos of the booths.

Throughout the event, overall it was so-so, a meh kind of event. Here's why:

1. Location Not Specified

Yeah of course it's in Mydin Mall, it said in its Facebook page, but when we arrived, we did not see any buntings or banners displayed ANYWHERE inside, outside or around the mall.  We wasted 20 minutes of our lives searching for the place and still couldn't find it. We had to drive around (Yes, in our car) because we gave up walking, Turns out, it was at the parking lot BEHIND the mall. I don't know if it was the management of the mall's problem  but we expected banners everywhere or at least DIRECTIONS to the event. It's a continuous event, with no continuous improvement.

We had to DRIVE around the mall to find the specific location. What BBW? NO BANNERS?!

2. The HEAT

Because they made the event at the parking lot of the mall, we felt so uncomfortable as they did not provide enough ventilation. I mean how would you feel staying at a parking lot for hours? And since it's night time especially, a lot of people who just finished working would of course stop by to check the place out. So how do you think the place is going to smell like? Bau lah! At least pakai lah bah industrial fans sebiji dua kan?

3. Limited Choices of Books

The books were mostly for children and less for the adults. Paling - paling pun Adult Coloring section lah. The novels aren't as many as last time probably because they're not going to sell old stocks from past years? Hence why we did not buy a lot this time.

Overall: 6/10

Well, that's our review for the event. It's not great but it's not disappointing either. Do check it out if you haven't been to any Big Bad Wolf yet especially those who are nearby Seremban area.

Stay tuned for more reviews in the future!

Foodies - Burger Night Out

I saw this video from one of the food pages in Facebook about this place, MHR Burger'sThis place is located at Tanjung Lembah, Port Dickson. We made a last minute planning of trying this place out to see whether it is good as it claimed to be.

MHR Burger's (Night Time)

So we arrived at MHR Burger's around 8pm (they're open 4pm onwards till midnight). We ordered Chicken Crispy Burger and Dragon Cheese Burger which comes with free Ice Lemon Tea drinks. Okay la not bad. It takes around 15-20 minutes for them to prepare and serve our food.

Chicken Crispy Burger

As you can see, it looks delicious. LOOKS, delicious, okay? This is the Chicken Crispy Burger (RM21.90) that we ordered. It comes with A LOT of French Fries as their side and that's it. Honestly speaking, I probably think those who don't eat fries will be disappointed because of the price. Macam nda sesuai ja dengan harga. But it's okay, I decided to give it a try.

- Overall Rating, 6/10
Chicken Crispy Burger, Top View

Taste wise: It was okay but we've tried better.
Presentation: If they could just change the quality of the fries, that'll be nice. I mean come on! RM21.90 bah, be creative lah sikit.
Price: The price is kinda steep. I know Cheese is expensive but at least make it presentable and irresistible. I mean, it's Cheese bah!

Dragon Cheeseburger

Yo man, look at that fries! Such generous amount of fries! Adedehhhh. My wife ordered Dragon Cheeseburger (RM19.90), cut in half upon request. It tasted good as the cheese can be seen melted on the patties but not enough oozing like how the video showed. Again, the fries given was too much she couldn't finished it all.

- Overall Rating, 5/10
Dragon Cheeseburger, Top View

Taste wise: Fulfilling, thanks to the cheese.
Presentation: Look at the amount of the fries and its qualities!
Price: Not too steep but could've been lower.

So that's our honest review for the food we tried. Besides burgers, they also focus on Western Food including various choices of Platters but we didn't try it yet, but maybe next time. I would recommend you to come here if you decide to bring along your family and friends for good gathering as this place is large enough to cater big groups.

Stay tuned for our next review!

Foodies - Lunch Spot #1

If you feel like having a taste of Malay Cuisine, Restoran Anis Puteri Gulai Kawah is one of the best places to try it out. Famous for their wide variety of Kelantan Dishes, Restoran Anis Puteri Gulai Kawah is located at Pantai Dalam, near to KTM Pantai Dalam Station.

Variety of Dishes, 24th June 2019

Every week, my colleagues and I will come to this restaurant at least once and it was always packed with people especially during peaked hour (12.30pm onwards). Personally, I really enjoyed their Daging Gulai Kawah along with their Mixed Vegetables. The prices for these dishes are quite affordable (Mine was RM5.00 for 3 different lauks today).

The only downside for this restaurant is their price based on the lauks you took is not fixed. Somehow, it depends on who's going to be calculating your meals for that day. But nevertheless, I would still recommend this place for you to try if you feel like having Malay Style Cuisine.

Different types of Kueh

Oh yeah last but not least, you can also try their various types of kuih muih (nda aku tau apa kuih dalam English). It's RM2.00 each only.

Overall I would give 7/10 for this place.

Stay tuned for more upcoming reviews.

Bubble Tea - 01

FIRST REVIEW!

If you live anywhere in South East Asia you MUST have tried at least ONE bubble tea drink.
As far as I know, my bubble tea (also known as pearl tea) began with Cool Blog back in 2011 tak salah. I was in KK back then, so di KK ada Yoyo. During that time, Hipster cafes were thriving and Starbucks was ruling.

Masa tu I rasa weird gila teh ais ni tapi ada tu bulat-bulat boleh kunyah. So interesting juga lah. Within 9 years, Bubble tea remains relevant. Companies selling these milky teas are flourishing like mushrooms (as Malay saying kata tumbuh macam cendawan). In KL since 2014 Chatime was the most famous bubble tea vendor. Then there was a busniness controversy back in 2015 (sila google) so they became Tealive. And now there's also Chatime somehow... whatever.

Then began the Bubble Tea galore. EVERYONE seem to be crazy about em, posting all kinds of bubble tea on social media. So we decided to try these three.

L-R : Gongcha, The Alley, Koi (All Pearl Miky Tea)
Here's my review as posted on my instagram previously.

Ok my stomach is officially FULL of bubbles and pearls 🤣 here's my review.. #gongcha would be THE BEST one for me. Sebab nicely priced and sedappp... #koibubbletea would come second sebab pearls dia GOLDEN!!! A bit too expensive for commoners tho 😍 And #TheAlley would come in last sebab TAWAR and overhyped. Or maybe the barrista (or mixer?) Tak pandai buat or something. Overall... #tealive de best sebab mana-mana pon ado 😬 I am officially #bubbleteagirl like a #typicalasian

Check out my instagram at instagram.com/anne702.

So what do you think? And how long do you think Bubble Tea will rule SE Asia?

New Project!

So we got bored. And then we got an idea! To make a new project together. And this new blog / instagram / facebook thing will be all about reviews. And the reviews will be about anything and EVERYTHING! The purpose of this is mainly for fun. We're not trying to be an "influencer" lol. But who knows?
