Bubble Tea 04

Source: Facebook

Finally! Now I can give you my review for Duriang Milk Tea after weeks of trying to get one. One word: SEDAP!

Duriang Milk Tea; Tealive Port Dickson Branch

Duriang Milk Tea can be purchased for RM10.90 from selected branches as it is limited offer.

Pro tip: You can get it 50% cheaper if you pay via Touch n Go e-Wallet.

The Durian that is used is genuine D24 and it blends well with the tea, every sip is wooooooorth it! It's a 9/10 for me, although my friends suggested I should try the Durian smoothie next time. Every sip is worth every cent! Highly recommended for you Durian lovers to try it out.

The only downside about this drink is they only sell in regular size! Otherwise, it's all good!

Till next time.

Foodie - Ayam Goreng McD 3x Pedas [Limited Offer]

Recently, we tried this menu and they weren't joking around. PEDAS BODO! Definitely not for everyone especially those who can't cope with spicy food! The normal Ayam Goreng McD already had that mild spicy taste to begin with.

Ayam Goreng McD 3x Pedas; 3 pc Combo

When I tried this, at first I thought it was like, alaaa tidak jua pedas bah, but after few bites, the level of spiciness slowly increased until I had to find me some milk! And I hate milk! But it didn't ended right there, my stomach started to growl, I had a diarrhea for few days. So a word of caution, when you decide to try this, please leave your ego behind.

Overall Rating: 7/10

Taste Wise: Spicy! Spicy! PEDAS! But tasted the same as the original.
Presentation: What you see in the photo above is what it looks like. Meh.
Pricing: Correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently you can either get their 3pc combo or 2pc combo with Nasi Lemak, is it how it supposed to be? Or I just got "scammed" by the cashier lady? It was RM17.90? Mahal for me boss, sekali try jak.

Till next time!

Gaming - Night Call

What can I say about this game? Well, it's not for everyone. You might get bored easily, even fall asleep (like my wife). It has that noir-style kind of feel, like a black and white comic themed environment I could almost imagine myself being in it.

You are a Parisian taxi driver who drives night shifts, engaging with different kinds of passengers' manner. Until one night, your encounter with a serial killer had left you scarred but with your dark history, you are accused as the prime suspect instead of a victim to the crime.

I actually enjoy this game in terms of how he interacts with passengers he picks up, creating some kind of driver-passenger relationships. With what's happening to him in recent event, he uses this opportunity for his private investigations and also to prove that he is the victim. The passengers sometimes provide hints and clues if you know what to say based on the situation.

One challenging thing about this game is the fact that most of the time I am clueless about the things I am suppose to do such as how this case needs to be solved. They would give you five suspects to investigate but whatever clues and information I have, I don't know how it relates to any of the suspects. Like trying to find an answer without looking at the question.

As good as this game is, it is not perfect 10 worthy. One of the flaws is how it gets repetitive at some point and because of the mellow environment, I sometimes get sleepy too. Another downside about this game is how the story progress slowly it gets dull and boring.

But nevertheless, it is still a good game to try out as you have a choice on how your character going to be with multiple dialogues and decisions to choose from as you venture deeper into the story.

Overall Rating: 6/10

Graphic: Good noir-style, black and white comics graphic in an indie game.
Gameplay: Multiple choice of dialogues and decisions to choose from that could affect the game progress but you have limited time in a night to gather all the intels you could find for your case.
Storyline: The encounters with the passengers get repetitive at certain point of the game and it's a bit slow.

Would I recommend this? Sure if you want to play this game like reading a bedtime story.

Movie : Aladdin (2019)

They could show us the world... Shining, Shimmering, Splendid?

Neh... They totally ruined this one. Felt like I was watching a cheap Broadway show that was produced in a month. The casting was horrible. I mean who was responsible for a drake-ish Jafar with a high-pitched voice who had to squeak every time he wanted to make a point. The guy who played sultan should have been Jafar, at least his voice represented evil.

Movie Poster from IMDB

So the cast was a disappointment. Mena Massoud (who played Aladdin) looked like he was confused all the time. His acting was weak and didn't appear heroic at all. Naomi Scott wasn't so bad. She looked pretty enough to play a feminist princess. Will Smith tried to save the movie by being Will Smith. And CGI Rajah and Iago? They were so forgettable, they could have just saved money and removed from the movie unnoticed.

Aladdin was my favourite Disney Animation. They had really good songs (Prince Ali being my favourite) and good storyline. Jafar was appropriate, being old and perv-ish and had the characteristics of a person you'd despised instead of annoyed because you used to call him on his cellphone. Geddit? Yeah excuse the lame Drake joke, I just had to...

Having watched the original Aladdin like a gazillion times, I would say they didn't change any important parts that would have made it different. I didn't hate the re-made songs. In fact, for me the modern touch made the songs better than the original. Naomi's got a nice voice. The new song "Speechless" was not bad either. So kudos for the OST.

Overall, I'd give it a 6/10. They seemed to rush into the production, making Aladdin seem like a Bollywood movie, sinking the story-line deep into the cave of wonders. Come on, Disney, you could have done better.

Jafar, downgraded.

Foodie - Green Chili Crunch [Limited Offer]

KFC had released their newest set of meal, Green Chili Crunch for a limited time so I had to try it. I gotta say, I had mixed feelings for this meal especially the presentation.

Green Chili Crunch, 2 pc Combo
I understood that it's not going to be the same as the advertised ones in terms of how it looked but come on! Could you at least not made it looked like I'm eating from last year's stock of chicken?! Sangat lah tidak menarik, macam dari longkang. It's shit...

Overall Rating: 5/10

Taste Wise: It was meh. I could taste a lil bit of lime but it wasn't that spicy. Disappointing, really.
Presentation: Do I need to explain much? Just look at the photo! Not appealing at all, more to go big or go home kinda appearance.
Pricing: RM14.90, better go for their Snack Plate Set  instead.

Clearer view of the Green Chili Crunch

A friend of mine tried it as well, here's what he told me when I asked for second opinion.

Taste Wise: 6/10, "Spicy and has tinge of lime"
Presentation: 5/10
Pricing: 4/10

You may try this yourself the next time you're heading to KFC, butt you've been warned.

Movie : After

I honestly had no idea why I was even tempted to watch this Netflix original. I guess because it’s on Netflix, it has to be good, right? The promo said “...mix between Twilight and Shades of Grey...” Two movies I passionately hate and yet there I was, watching “After” like it had class or something.

Plotwise? Lame. Acting? Sucks.

The movie was so predictable you would cringe at every sentence. It took me two separate viewings to finish it for the sake of this review. Story short, it was supposedly a “love story” between a boring (supposedly) college girl with a “bad boy” just like every teen flick.

So like I said predictable. She dumped her high school boyfriend to be with the bad boy, turned out bad boy was on a bet to own her, she found out, they fought, he told her the “love” was real bla bla bla... they ended up together anyways.

A BAD, TERRIBLE moral story for young girls.

I felt like the movie is trying hard to tell young girls that it’s okay to give your body to a bad boys because they really are sincerely in love with you.

bullshit.

That’s what I think about the movie plot, and everything it tries to tell us. Sorry. Not my kinda movie.
A 1/10 for me. Because still better than any Malay movie lol.

Bubble Tea - 03

The adventures of bubble/bobba/boba tea continues with our next stop, Daboba at SS15, Subang Jaya. Despite their infamous traffic jam, we still went and took that leap!

DABOBA Roasted Brown Sugar Milk Tea

This was what my friend, Pian and I ordered, their famous Roasted Brown Sugar Milk Tea. Here's my simple reaction on Instagram:

I felt so conflicted at that time as well, the milk tea was nice but that top layer, it's CHEESE. I don't know about you but for me cheese often didn't went so well with any beverages especially anything milky. But then again, Malaysian food and beverages could still surprise us with their weird inventions (*cough* Nasi Lemak Durian *cough*).

In terms of their pricing, it was what a hipster bubble tea would cost, which was RM13.90 each. Pricey..sayang duit oh damn tapi apa boleh buat lah...

The atmosphere of this place during evening

My friend Pian however, said that this milky tea tasted the same as the ones from our hometown KK's Yoyo Cafe except without the cheese.

And that's our review for the latest bubble tea we tried. Till next time!

Foodie - Raja & Murni

This time we decided to try the well known Restoran Murni's (Sunway Mentari Branch). What's special about this restaurant was their unique dishes in their menu which can be checked here.
Mee Raja Blackpepper
This was what I ordered, their signature dish, the Mee Raja Blackpepper that consisted of noodles with shrimps, squids, minced chicken, added with some....fries, chips and squid sausages. My thought? Confused and mixed feelings, what were you trying to represent? The Western? The local delicacy? Snacks? However, looking at this dish then did made me hungry somehow and here's what I thought.

Overall Rating 6/10

Taste Wise: The fries and the chips were so bland, it ruined the dish. The mee raja was there to save the day, yay...
Presentation: Confusing. So much emotional baggage can be felt over here. Look at the photo above!
Price: Considering the portion, it's reasonable but not the taste. The taste felt like a 4 bucks meal.

Mee Raja Meletup
Here's what my friend ordered, the Mee Raja Meletup. By Meletup, it was so spicy you will feel it in the morning - if you know what I mean

Nevertheless, I would still recommend you guys to head over here to see for yourself what they have in their menu. From Maggi Germany to Nasi Goreng David Beckham. Yeah you read it right.

Warning: Any dish with Meletup at the back of the dish names are most definitely spicy. So tread carefully.

Till next time!

Foodie - Nasi Kukus Tonggek

Nasi Kukus Tonggek, IOI City Mall Putrajaya (Photo source )

Located in Food Junction, IOI City Mall Putrajaya, Nasi Kukus Tonggek served different varieties of Nasi Kukus dishes. My friend Scott and I went our way to try one of their signature dishes, Nasi Kukus Sotong Tonggek & Nasi Kukus Salted Egg Chicken.

Nasi Kukus Salted Egg Chicken

This was their latest dish added into their menu and honestly, it's just meh for me, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either.

Overall Rating: 6/10

Taste Wise: Just okay, nothing much to say. Keep your expectations to a minimum.
Presentation: Slightly creative with the can full of rice and curry gravy, good save 👍
Price: This was RM11.90 which was reasonable for its portion, but sadly kind of disappointed for its taste.

Nasi Kukus Sotong Tonggek

This next dish, Nasi Kukus Sotong Tonggek, was so good I almost forgot about that Salted Egg Chicken.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Taste Wise: Looooooved it! The crispiness of that squid, damn! Breathtaking! Like Keanu Reeves breathtaking! It mixed well with the curry gravy, y'all should try it!
Presentation: Even though it's the same as Salty Egg Chicken, but somehow the Sotong made the dish more seductive.
Price: For RM14.90, it's worth it. The portion was nice, the taste was awesome, I mean just look at size of that squid!

We most definitely recommend this place for you to try the next time you're at IOI City Mall Putrajaya.

Fun fact: They just opened another branch at Midvalley Megamall, you can check it out.

Stay tuned for our next review!

Foodie - Mediterranean Sea Salt Sofuto for Your Soul

Available in all Family Mart Stores

Honestly, I did not expect to test taste this at all. But here I am, in awe with their latest ice cream flavor, the Mediterranean Sea Salt Sofuto! They just started introducing this flavor on the 3rd of July and you can find this at all Family Mart stores.

Mediterranean Sea Salt Sofuto, Family Mart IOI City Mall

That first taste feeling, Ya Allah, so good! Sudah lah sedap, murah lagi bah! It only costed me RM2.90, yeah that cheap! That sweet but kicking after-taste flavor really improved my mood and it got better and better with every taste that I almost forgot I have life problems.

Kingdom Hearts II - Axel & Roxas enjoying Sea Salt Ice Cream

Overall Rating: 8/10

Taste Wise: So good it affects my mood!
Presentation: Nothing much to say, that's what most ice cream looks like. duh!
Price: Reasonable price of course! RM2.90 for quality taste is rare!

Stay tuned for our next review!

Foodie - Mulut Cafe & Dessert

Mulut Cafe - Night Time

"Bah makan mana malam ni?"

"Makan di Mulut lah." 😑

Sooo many lame jokes can be made about this place. But in all seriousness, I had so many things to say about it, starting with how their service was a bit sloppy.

Mulut Cafe & Dessert is located at Tampin, Negeri Sembilan and opens from 5pm - 12am EVERYDAY. The place is always overcrowded, finding a parking spot was mission impossible.

After we ordered our food and drinks, the waiter came over to tell us our orders weren't available and asked us to change. Few minutes later, he came by again telling us the food (Nasi Ayam Kicap) needed 20 minutes at least to prepare as they were out of rice and suggested us to change, and I did, again. But in spite of everything, the time taken for them to prepare and deliver our food and drinks didn't take that long.

Cheese Burger (Single) - RM9.50

Here's what I ordered (since Nasi Ayam Kicap didn't worked out), just look at the sauce! It looked delicious and suitable for its price but a bit fragile though, as fragile as people's feelings nowadays. However, I am impressed with their homemade patties that were used instead of the usual processed ones.

Overall Rating: 7/10

Taste Wise: Delicious but the sauce was a bit much, probably because I liked my burgers with lesser sauce instead. Felt like I have to eat it carefully to prevent it from falling apart.
Presentation: No side dish was placed, straight to the point. You may request for their side dish separately.
Price: Convenient price for its portion.

UFO Burger (Single) - RM10.50
Here's another one that my brother ordered. They only added 2 Onion Rings as representation of UFO Burger, the rest were pretty much the same.

Side dish, French Fries - RM5.00

The only side dish we ordered while waiting for our burgers to be served that time.

And that's our honest review for today, as always, they also served other types of dishes such as Nasi Lemak Bamboo or Nasi Ayam Kicap as well as different choices of desserts.

I would recommend this place as a place to chill and hangout with your friends and family as they provide live bands for entertainment.

Stay tuned for our next review!

Movie : Veronica

“You must do right what was wrong...”

Quote of the day.

Another movie about an Ouija board gone wrong. But this time, they made is based on a true story. In Spain. Seram? Not so much, at least for me.

The scene in the poster was the ONLY scary part.
Veronica was set in Madrid, Spain about a teenage girl (named Veronica, duh) who just lost a father and had to take care of her younger twin sisters and brother, due to their mother being busy working day and night.  As like any other teenagers, Vero got peer pressured into some seance ceremony and predictably summoned a demon into the world, not surprisingly attached to her body.

So one spooky event happened after another, to the point of her siblings being in danger, involving being strangled and burned. A blind nun (who looked creepier than the ‘entity’) gave her some warnings about the obvious danger the demon would bring. Okay so without giving away too much about the movie, here’s what I think about it.

Veronica for me is more a sad movie than scary. It was more about how an elder sister would sacrifice her own life for her siblings. Also, the movie serves as a warning for people to STOP MESSING WITH OUIJA BOARDS! But yeah, I think I felt more sad than spooked.

So overall I would give it a 6/10 for lack of effort in presentation of the entity. It was more sci-fi than demonic. But great acting by the actors, though. I got the feels despite not understanding the language and tradition.

Recommended for horror movie seekers with a good storyline.

Series - Mr Iglesias

Netflix's Mr. Iglesias

It's been a long time since there's any sitcom that takes places in schools (well at least for me) until now. Mr. Iglesias is one of those sitcoms you could watch while having a meal with your family or friends during sleepovers. Check out the trailer below.

Mr. Iglesias is a story about a high school teacher that tries to make a difference by trying to help a bunch of misfits but gifted students.

Just a bit of a heads up, there are a lot of American jokes involved so you might want to skip this if you have trouble understanding their references. Also, prepare for few easter eggs, you won't regret it.

Let's just hope there is Season 2 since Netflix has not yet confirmed about it.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Foodie - Snowflake Generation for You

Snowflake, Kuchai Lama Branch
Everyday I always learned something new, including this place. Why? Daniel told me this dessert shop had always been around that it's so mainstream. Oh well, better late than never I guess. Here's my take on this franchise. Oh BTW, you can check them out right here for more details.

Best Seller Double Black
After we went to Niko Niko Onigiri at Sri Petaling (Check it out!) for our dinner, we were supposed to get some ice cream but it was closed (Pasar Malam happened).

Well here we are, Snowflake at Kuchai Lama's branch. Daniel suggested I should try their Bestseller Double Black (yeap that's the name of their menu actually), and so I did. Here's my thought for this dessert:

Best Seller Double Black, Top View

Overall Rating: 6/10

Taste Wise: It's a dessert, of course it's going to be sweet. This dish required you to spread the cream for maximum flavor. Overall, I would say it tasted good especially their grass jellies. Love it!
Presentation: Colorful presentation, three different colors in a dessert dish is always nice. But when I looked at it long enough, it gave me that slight uneasy feeling of being full.
Price: Portion wise, it's proportional. This dish costed me RM14.50, a bit steep for me.

So, there's my review for you. I would recommend this place if you feel like lepak-ing with your buddies and have a long chit chat.

Till next time!

Foodie - Niko Niko Onigiri (Sri Petaling)

Niko Niko Onigiri Sri Petaling Branch

A friend of mine suggested this place claiming it's good and has unique choices of dishes served. So, here we are, at their Sri Petaling branch where it all started.

I've decided to go for their 2 Onigiri Set with Raw Salmon and Tanuki as their Onigiri choices. As for the drinks I only had Japanese Green Tea as it goes well with any food I ate so far.

2 Onigiri Set w/ Raw Salmon & Tanuki
Here you go, the 2 Onigiri Set that I ordered. Besides the 2 onigiri, it also came with Mashed Potato and Chicken Cutlets complete with Miso Soup. Here's what I think about the dish:

2 Onigiri Set, Top View

Overall Rating: 7/10

Taste Wise: Raw Salmon tasted good each time I took a bite at it but not so great for the Tanuki. This one's a bit dull and almost tasteless to the point I almost regretted ordering it. Mashed Potato was okay but that Chicken Cutlets was slightly cold as if they just cooked it yesterday. Lucky for this dish, it was saved by that Miso Soup.
Presentation: Good food arrangements, they made sure the 2 Onigiris were the main star of the dish.
Price: Costed me RM14.90 along with that Japanese Tea which was adequate for its portion.

That shall be my honest review for this dish, of course you could try other dishes as well should you decided to head over here or other branches that's convenient for you.

Stay tuned to our next review.

Gaming - A Way Out

Vincent (left), Leo (right)

You guys watched Prison Break right? Or that one movie on roids, Escape Plan? Well, this game is something like that.

A Way Out (published by EA) is an intense co-op narrative exploration adventure kind of game with action packed scenes included that starts in a prison. You play as either Vincent Moretti or Leo Caruso and their common objectives are to settle their own scores against a guy named Harvey, who are the main cause they both got into prison. 'Kay enough about that, here's my review for this game.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
*
*
*
*

*
*
If you look at their title cover, you'd think the game is mainly in prison, well, it's not. The real action takes place AFTER you escape the prison (kind of gave me that betrayal feeling for this game).

The storylines were so weak (it's like they made this game as a side project or summer school project or something). The graphics weren't that great but I really hoped they would compensate it with great storylines. Just because the theme took place in 1970s, doesn't mean the level of writing had to be from the same era.

In terms of gameplay however, I loved it. Greg and I enjoyed the game due to their unique approach of solving problems. For example, what you see (in the image) above was the part where we both had to time our positions to climb our way up. One mistake and we both would be dead. We also got to roam separately although it was in split screen.

Like any other narrative games, different dialogues will provide different story outcomes. You can either choose the good samaritan approach or the asshole approach. Totally up to you.

OVERALL RATING: 6/10

Graphic: Feels like I'm playing a PS3 game.
Gameplay: Unique approach, unexpected instructions, cool puzzle set up.
Storyline: Could've been better, we expected better. Disappointed, betrayed, lied to.

Would I recommend this? Yes, because there aren't that many co-op storyline games (yet).

Bubble Tea - 02

Annnnndddd... another Bubble Tea review.

Not sure what to call them now. Boba Tea? Bubble Tea? Pearl Tea? Whatever. Tea with round thingies. That's what we're reviewing.

TIGER SUGAR

Look at that <3
This. Bubble Tea. Is. Amazing. The bubbles were warm, the milk fresh, the brown sugar delish and the tea? Love it! I couldn't find ANY negative adjectives to describe this one. It was the perfect bubble tea. Look at the colour! How can you not feast with your eyes before anything!

I think I ordered Brown Sugar Milk Tea which costed RM12.90. Normal sugar, normal ice to be fair. Yeah, a bit pricey but totally worth it. The service was quick, despite the long queue, waiting time was like 3 minutes. So kudos to the Tiger Sugar employees in Pavilion, KL. You guys certainly know what you're doing. Also, I love the black straw and printed cups. Classy touch.

Despite the long queue, I only waited 3 minutes for my order.

So that's my review. Tiger Sugar was AWESOME. But because of the price, maybe I would wait a while before buying another. RM10+ for bubble tea is still kinda expensive, right?

And here's what Mr Hubs said in his instagram:
