Movie : Veronica

“You must do right what was wrong...”

Quote of the day.

Another movie about an Ouija board gone wrong. But this time, they made is based on a true story. In Spain. Seram? Not so much, at least for me.

The scene in the poster was the ONLY scary part.
Veronica was set in Madrid, Spain about a teenage girl (named Veronica, duh) who just lost a father and had to take care of her younger twin sisters and brother, due to their mother being busy working day and night.  As like any other teenagers, Vero got peer pressured into some seance ceremony and predictably summoned a demon into the world, not surprisingly attached to her body.

So one spooky event happened after another, to the point of her siblings being in danger, involving being strangled and burned. A blind nun (who looked creepier than the ‘entity’) gave her some warnings about the obvious danger the demon would bring. Okay so without giving away too much about the movie, here’s what I think about it.

Veronica for me is more a sad movie than scary. It was more about how an elder sister would sacrifice her own life for her siblings. Also, the movie serves as a warning for people to STOP MESSING WITH OUIJA BOARDS! But yeah, I think I felt more sad than spooked.

So overall I would give it a 6/10 for lack of effort in presentation of the entity. It was more sci-fi than demonic. But great acting by the actors, though. I got the feels despite not understanding the language and tradition.

Recommended for horror movie seekers with a good storyline.
